Family Child Care (FCC) is defined as the care of any child in the home of another person or family for 10 hours or more weekly, on a regular basis. The FCC office oversees provider training and licensing, as well as a resource center for providers.

Family child care is offered on an hourly, part-time or full day basis. It can help you in the event your child is mildly ill or has other special needs. It is also available for deployments, exercises and extended duty hours.

FCC providers must meet stringent requirements similar to the training required of Child Development Center employees. Providers are required to be over 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, be able to read and speak English, and be in good mental and physical health. They must also pass comprehensive background checks (including family members) and complete a basic orientation program prior to licensing.

FCC is also available in affiliated provider homes off-base. The homes offer the same Air Force standards in safety, equipment and attention as on-base providers.
